Headpieces for Celtic Weddings
The bridal tiara is just one of those types.During more ancient times, members of royalty more commonly wore crowns to distinguish themselves from other members of society. These were not just worn during weddings but in every occasion where the king and queen were seen in public. Crowns essentially look like tiaras but are more elaborately designed and accessorized. These are recognizable for having arched pieces which connect at the top with an ornament. On the inside, fabric is attached for added comfort when wearing the headpiece. Although more commonly associated with formal members of royalty, these can still be found in Celtic weddings.A coronet is a smaller crown but without the arches. From this tradition is where the term honeymoon is said to have been derived. In traditional Catholic weddings, the accessory placed on the head is most commonly referred to as the bridal tiara. It is a head accessory which holds the veil in piece and part of the ensemble which makes the bride look and feel more like a princess. In authentic Celtic weddings, there are several types of headpieces, each with its own set of meanings.
